Our Last Sirah - Last Invitational Tasting
Saturday, June 29
11am - 4pm Featuring: Elegant bowls, platters and woodcraft by the winemaker!
For 39 commercial years, Sandie, Mary, Dave, and I have known that, eventually, Salamandre would eventually need to close the cellar door.
Along the way, we have made some wines of prideful caliber, enriched our lives with new friends, and learned profound respect for the talents, dedication, and mischief of the folks who enjoy Salamandre. Time, inexorably, will have its way. This will be our last Invitational Tasting. It’s a nostalgic day for us, but for you...a chance to salt away some fantastic red wines on a sunny day! On the List for this final Tasting: Coyote Cuvee, 2019: Bordeaux inspired blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Merlot. This is the pinnacle of the series from the Wiley Ranch in Arroyo Seco, starting in 2004. $46 Petite Sirah 2018: There’s nothing remotely “Petite” about this inky, spicy wine. It rested in barrels for 2 years and has patiently awaited liberation from the bottle for 4. It needed that time! Ready for your most ambitiously seasoned supper. $34 Malbec 2017: No wonder the Argentines consider this “steak wine” a national heritage variety. Malbec ages exceptionally well, by the way. $34 Primitivo 2013: The Primitivo saga began modestly for us in 1996 and then soared! This is a bone dry, big one. The vine cuttings came from Calabria in Southern Italy to take root in Southern Monterey County. $35 Limited supply (2 bottle limit): Petit Verdot 2018: Exceptional, not “Petit!” Sandie’s private favorite. $36 Pinot Noir 2018: Lovely, full bodied Pinot from Arroyo Seco. $40 Malbec 2016: Earthy and balanced 8 year old...a long haul entertainer. $36 Primitivo 2014: Subtle residual sugar, intense flavor...end of the day wine. $40 Felix Apollo, NV: Proprietary, non-vintage blend intended to last. $48 Appointments!
